much like they have on WS-I, IETF and W3C and the C/C++ standards groups?

This kind of tactic is so obvious that they wouldn't dare try it. In fact, 
all of Microsoft's attempts at even subtler subterfuge have failed 
miserably and been trumpeted from all corners of pundit-space.
