[Lias] AUC and intranets

HI all,
We are starting to look at alternatives to AUC which is starting to show
it's age and limitations. There was some talk on here a few months ago
about rewriting it into php?. Was wondering if any progress had been made?
I am looking to implement something a bit more upmarket at the beginning
of next year.
Have looked at a few alternatives but none of them give me the ability to
access home directories over the net from home, which is essential to us
now.
