Hi Linux.Conf.Au 2004 (potential :-) Conference attendee,

This is just a quick list of things you should consider in getting
yourself ready for coming to Adelaide next week:

>>> Conference Keysigning:

If you want to be involved in the conference keysgning, you'd better
get a hurry on! We're stopping accepting keys tonight (Jan 5), so if
you've simply forgot, quickly jump onto http://linux.conf.au/keysigning/
follow the instructions and away you go!

And if you have sent us your keys, don't forget to bring 2 forms of
photographic ID with you to the conference (one preferably government
issued).

>>> Networking:

The electronic kind. As previously mentioned we'll have wireless
and wired connectivity. But if you want to make use of our network
room and the wired internet, make sure you bring along a Category 5
RJ-45 patch cable, with length between 1.5m and 5m.

And on the topic of networking, bring that spare laptop battery. With
everyone nowadays bringing laptops, power outlets are hard to find.

>>> Your receipt:

Nothing worse when you arrive somewhere and the registration desk
knows nothing about you. To counter any system failures we suggest
that you bring a copy of the receipt for your registration, just in
case things turn to custard.

>>> Last minute programme changes:

There's been a couple of minor programme changes in the last week, and
if any speakers miss a flight there may be more :-) So don't rely on
memory, make sure you look at http://linux.conf.au/programme.cgi before
Wednesday morning so you can go to the sessions you want to.

>>> Maps

The University of Adelaide is a complex campus, and we don't want
anyone to get lost trying to find us. Have a good look at our
nice conference maps (http://linux.conf.au/maps.cgi) so you'll
know your way around Adelaide, the Univesity and even inside the
Napier building where most lectures will be given!

Registration is at the "Napier Undercroft", so that's the first port
of call when you arrive at the University.

>>> What to wear?!?

What to wear? What to wear? This isn't some fashion parade, it's a
hot Adelaide summer, so leave the suit and tie at home and wear
t-shirts and shorts. Us organisers will be, so feel free to follow
suit (ha ha :) And while we're at it, think about sunscreen and a
hat. The Australian summer is known for being H O T :-)

>>> Works in Progress Sessions

We're having some "Works in Progress" (WIP) sessions at Linux.Conf.Au
2004, allowing you the conference attendee to give a 3-5 minute
presentation on any Linux-related project that you are currently working
on. Presentation lengths will be strictly enforced, and using anything
that requires prior setup (including laptops) will be strictly
forbidden!  :-)

To participate in the WIP session, please prepare up to 4 A4 sheets of
paper on your project, and hand them into the registration desk before
5pm on Wednesday Jan 15. Hand-written pages are more than alright!
These A4 sheets will be put up around the conference venue for other
attendees to read prior to, and after, your presentation.

If you have any questions on any of this, feel free to contact us at

See you in Adelaide next week!

            Your friendly Linux.Conf.Au 2004 Organising Team...
