Infrastructure Engineer - Projects & Automation

Optiver is a trading firm with a difference. We have offices across the globe
and from our Sydney office we trade across the APAC region. We are leaders in
our industry and this comes down to two key factors: our people and our
technology.
We are growing and with this growth we have new opportunities for talented
engineers to join us.
Our infrastructure team is a multi-skilled group, working on some of the most
interesting and complex systems and hardware projects you could imagine and
we're on the hunt for a new member.

In this position, you will own and run engineering projects focused on
multiple areas of the business requiring a broad spectrum of knowledge. We
deliver solutions encompassing Linux, Network and Microsoft platforms.

This sounds a lot like you:

• You already have a pretty broad range of skills and you love researching,
learning and implementing new technologies at home and at work. You're not
afraid to suggest something new to your team if you believe it will have a
positive impact.
• You have specialist-level skills in at least one of Networking or Linux
and at least a working knowledge of the other.
• Automation of processes and tasks is second nature to you. You achieve
this using your excellent scripting capabilities (ideally with Python, Ruby
or similar) and also have a good understanding of at least one orchestration
tool, such as Puppet, Chef, Salt, etc.

• Along with these key skills, you have a genuine interest in and
understanding of many of the other technologies and tools that Optiver is
interested in, such as AWS, Azure, KVM, containerisation, traditional storage
(SAN, NAS, Cloud) distributed storage (CEPH, Gluster, ZFS, Microsoft Storage
Servers), etc. You would also be able to contribute to the CICD and DevOps
practices at Optiver.
• You're a self-starter, you love a challenge, you're a team player &
you're very comfortable thinking outside the box.

As well as possessing the right skills, you are very passionate about working
through technical problems with your team and stakeholders. You are very
capable of root cause analysis and remediation; you're friendly and outgoing
and are able to build relationships with users and technologists alike.

You thrive in a fast-paced environment, have great communication skills and
are equally happy working on either support or project-based work.

When you join the collaborative, passionate team at Optiver, you'll
immediately be involved in interesting and challenging projects. There's
never a dull day when you're part of the Opti-team and we've not even started
to talk about all the perks we have on offer.

Interested? Apply now via our website or shoot your CV and Cover Letter
through to kassidy.mulley at optiver.com.au
