We are looking for a test and automation lead to join the Bureau’s  
numerical modelling team, with a particular focus on developing, building and  
implementing improved numerical modelling software. You will be required to  
assist with capturing requirements into a test  plan, assisting with methods  
for testing scientific accuracy, working with subject-matter experts to  
develop appropriate statistical tests for scientific data and working with  
software engineers to assess whether software is well-tested. You will be  
expected to write code and automated tests in languages such as Python.

This is a great opportunity to work on systems of national importance for the  
public good, as well as to be a part of a highly talented software  
development team.

To be successful you will have:

- Knowledge of statistics, data science, science, engineering or meteorology.
- Demonstrated understanding of automated testing in a complex software  
environment
- Knowledge of testing tools and frameworks such as Jenkins, py.test, FUnit,  
CUnit and TAP
- Initiative, judgement, perseverance and an ability to work respectfully in  
a team environment and to liaise effectively with research and operations  
staff.
- Knowledge of verification techniques or experience with numerical modelling  
systems would be an advantage
