About the Company

My client is a large, and respected Higher Education organisation based in  
NSW. This client is constantly forging ahead with new projects in the name of  
innovation and progression.

About the Role

The role reports to the Enterprise Systems Operations Manager. The Enterprise  
Systems team is part of the IT Infrastructure Portfolio. They are actively  
looking to hire an experienced Unix/Linux Systems Administrator to join their  
team. Within this role, you will oversee many of the larger and more complex  
tasks and projects undertaken by the team. The role covers a wide range of  
server related activities including server installation, operating system  
configuration and optimisation, server performance, capacity monitoring,  
system security, account administration, network printing and aspects of  
application implementation and support.

Essential Skills & Experience
•	High level of technical knowledge and experience with both Unix (Solaris)  
and Linux (Redhat) server operating systems
•	Knowledge and understanding of data network protocols (TCP/IP in  
particular), and their associated services
•	Knowledge and experience with data storage systems, including server and  
storage hardware, tape library and/or SANs, and the ability to use complex  
diagnostic tools to analyse server performance
•	Knowledge of IT Security issues and trends in the areas of enterprise  
servers, data storage solutions, data centre operations and IT generally
•	Experience managing medium to large scale IT projects, and a sound  
understanding of project management principles
•	An understanding of the principles relating to change control, project  
management and disaster/recovery
•	Demonstrated experience in medium to large scale data centre operations
•	Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, to provide technical  
leadership to the team, and coach/mentor less experienced team members when  
required
