Linux Systems Engineer / Digital Infrastructure Department

Fairfax Digital, the online arm of Fairfax Media, requires a highly skilled  
and motivated person to fulfil the role of a Linux Systems Engineer within  
the Digital Infrastructure department. This role requires in-depth knowledge  
and proven ability in administering high volume websites, based on the Linux  
operating system and open source technology

The position is based in Pyrmont, Sydney, and offers an extremely creative  
and challenging culture. We expect the best and will offer a rewarding career  
with exposure to the latest technologies.

To be considered and successful in this position you will have 3+ years in a  
similar role.  A proven history of problem resolution and innovation is  
essential.  You will complement and join a team that possesses a passion and  
deep awareness of emerging technology and digital practices.

Essential Skills

-        Red Hat / Centos

-        Apache

-        Tomcat

-        ESX

-        DNS

-        TCP/IP

-        Shell scripting

Desired Skills

-        Ruby, Python or Perl

-        Puppet

-        Satellite / Spacewalk server

-        Kernel-based virtual machine (KVM)

-        CVS, SVN and Git

-        Layer 7 load balancing

-        SAN and NAS infrastructure

-        Routing and switching

-        NX-OS

Key Responsibilities

-        Directly support the web infrastructure and services

-        Automated deployment, configuration and lifecycle management of  
workloads

-        Detailed design

-        Change, incident and problem management

-        Rostered on call
