High-Availability Engineer, Full Time

This R&D position is in SGI's File Serving Technologies group in Melbourne. The SGI Australian Software Group is approximately 30 strong focused on Linux kernel development, XFS, NFS, Samba and storage management.

This is a senior software engineering position and the person will be responsible for all technical aspects of High Availability on SGI products.

This position plays the lead role in the design, development, and testing High Availability Solutions for existing and new SGI systems running Linux. 

The position requires the application of a breadth of knowledge in several areas including network protocols, system internals, and clustering to create new high availability solutions. 

The position requires: 
•	The ability to work with broad direction and to obtain solutions through initiative.
•	Work within the SGI engineering community to provide technical review and design recommendations and with the customer support organization to solve customer issues. 
•	Work closely with the other Storage Software groups, PROM and the OS groups to ensure the required low level capabilities needed to support High Availability are present in hardware and software.
•	Experience with networking protocols such as NFS/Samba is highly desirable.
 
Job Requirements: Position requires at least a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent experience. 5-10 years of work experience highly desirable. Experience developing high availability features for Unix/Linux systems would be beneficial.
