 	Manager, System Operations -, Full Time

 	

Google has an immediate need in Sydney for a manager of our IT group. The
position calls for a disciplined, creative, well-organized leader to manage our
existing world-class group of Field Technicians and System Administrators. 

This is an internal group responsible for the administration of all user
computers, our digital phone system, and the design, implementation and
operation of our local corporate computing environment. 

We are looking for someone who can command the intellectual respect of the
engineers in the group while providing a client-focused interface to the rest of
the company. Candidates should be familiar with the unique challenges posed by a
remote office. Charm, wit and patience are a must. Excellent written and verbal
communications skills go without saying.

Responsibilities:  	

1. Manage a medium-size and growing team of Windows and Linux admins.

2. Manage and scale the IT infrastructure and support for 5+ remote offices.

3. Take full responsibility for prioritizing the tasks presented to the group.

4. Be the contact point for the group in all corporate interactions.

5. Work with the IS Director to produce budgets and to stay inside them.

6. Manage troubleshooting and incident reports.

7. Work with the full operations group and with Google's strategic planners to help design each new generation of our computing and network architecture.

8. Take responsibility for the implementation of IT projects, which can involve programming, procurement, deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, education, and emergency response.

Requirements: 	

1. BS or BA in a technical field.
2. 5+ years as a Unix/Linux system administrator or Windows admin.
3. Familiarity with Windows/Unix interoperation.
4. 2+ years as a manager of an IT group.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
