System Administrator (part tim, Part Time

Barrett Consulting Group is a specialist in Human behavior&business performance
and an award winning consulting firm and best known for pioneering work in Sales
Productivity, Assessment & Recruitment Methodology and Coaching & Development.
We are an expanding company. Currently we have an office in Melbourne, but
workload requires to setup offices in in other major cities as well.

We currently have two operating systems employed: Linux and Windows NT.
The nature of the setup requires major knowledge of the Linux operating
system with less knowledge of Win NT. Training/teaching will be available
for the successful applicant to increase her/his knowledge in the
area of Windows NT (2000).

The successful applicant should have knowledge in some (or all) of
the following:

  * iptables ( or ipchains or ipfw )
  * sendmail
  * amavis
  * perl/CGI/C/C++
  * samba    (we are currently setting up a samba server)
  * squid
  * apache
  * MySpql
  * LAN setup and administration with good understanding of logging,
    being able to understand/read the message  contained with the logs.
  * Routing and maintenance of the Netgear based switches
  * Maintenance of the computers/printers

  * Windows NT (this is a minor part of the job and can/will be taught)
      - PDC & clients, with user admin
      - application maintenance/installation
      - backup
      - in case of hardware failure re-installation of the backed up data.

The successful applicant will look after the computers/network for
a period of time alone (eg during 4 weeks of the holiday period in December)
as well as during other times and will support the setup of an office in other
cities.

The successful applicant will be able to learn to work on her/his own
without supervision, enhance her/his knowledge in new fields using
resources readily available such as books/www/mailing lists and learn to
see what needs to be done without being told to do so.
