Hello again,
I want to look at the projects (major) that groups are currently working
on. I want to ensure that we dont reinvent the wheel where we do not
need to. :)
Projects in Vic include - CAI-AUS webpage redesign and INTRANET
development - with intention for INTRANET docs being placed on CAI-AUS
website for all to see. Some docs are available per the sourceforge
computerbank documentation projects, others can be requested. David
often posts large amounts of useful info to this list, I hope he doesnt
mind providing his own version about the state of things so all can be
in the know. ? David over to you...
We would like interactivity built in (ability to read forms online and
print them out for posting or send some forms in electroniccally). I do
believe that CAI-SA are looking at the issues of forms and databases.
Please can we have a summation of where we are at with this - and if
indeed other people may be able to help. ? Romana over to you.
Okay along these lines and in relation to information management
(inventory) Raull has piped up recently and has started to talk about a
database project. I like Raull's methods of asking the list what was
being done in this department - so that the wheel wouldnt be reinvented.
I hope that the folk developing database's in CAI-VIC and CB-SA have had
or do have ongoing dialogue with CB_NSW.
Information management (admin side of things to reduce the need for
paper) databases will be the key to streamlining how we work and the way
we do things, they will make things easier and will save trees. What is
the state of projects of this kind?
In CAI-VIC we are working on a roster database system (tied to skills)
for volunteers. Owen C is working on this - can we have a bit of a
summary of the whoe project Owen?
I know that in CAI-VIC we use / specialise in debian, as does CB-NSW -
therefore package management (custom) is something we both need to do.
We need to talk more about package management issues together.
Where are we at in CAI-Vic with the changeover to KDE (from GNOME) and
reiserfs? Can Grant give us a summary?
CAI-QLD use redhat and other distros - so maybe they might have some
useful stuff for all to benefit from?
CA in WA have been doing lots of things over in WA - maybe we could have
a summary from Julian re latest activities and any projects / tools they
have developed that may be useful to other branches?
Nearly forgot the documentation project - docbook? - Steve what is the
progress? I will provide a summary for this one after the meeting /
induction day next wed.
Okay over to everyone else, :)
Cheers,
Kylie
