Hi all, :)
Had a call in at Computerbank last week (or so) re enabling cookies in Netscape.
This is the kind of question that should be posted to this list. :)
So to answer the question about enabling cookies;
1. Go to the EDIT menu - on the menu toolbar of Netscape.
2. Select Preferences (the very bottom menu item!)
3. Within the preferences dialogue - you\'ll see a list of items that can be
changed or modified.
Be careful that you do not change any information about your mail settings or
your proxy settings (unless told otherwise).
The things that can be changed include - font size, colors (under the
\"appearance\" option, home page location (under the \"navigator\" option), and
cookies can be turned on/off by looking under the \"advanced\" option.
4. So to change and turn on cookies - you need to \'click\'on the \"advanced\" tab
in the left hand window. In the right window - there will be a list of things
that can be changed. At the bottom is the information about cookies. Check the
appropriate box.
In the case of the caller from last week - wanting to enable cookies - they
would select the \"accept all cookies option\".
Now I dont know if you want to be warned before you accept a cookie (another
option that can be selected) - but some people prefer to know when another
computer is tracking them and some people get real sick of having Netscape
dialogues pop up at them all the time. It\'s up to you.
Hoping someone else will give us the low down on cookies and what they are used
for. :)
Please...
5. Once you have finished changing netscape preferences - you need to save them
(by selecting the okay button) and by default this action will close the
preferences window.
5. Wallah - all done!
Cheers,
Kylie
