=== 2012 Linux Australia Council Election ===
Nominations for the 2012 Linux Australia Council have opened. All current members may nominate another member or themselves for all positions. Candidates require two nominations for any position before they can accept that nomination. If you want to stand in the election or know someone who wants to stand, please nominate!

The available positions are:
- President (1)
- Vice President (1)
- Secretary (1)
- Treasurer (1)
- Ordinary council member (3)
The time-line for the election is as follows:
Nominations open: 28 November 2011 00:00 EST.
Nominations close: 4 January 2012 00:00 EST.
Voting opens: 4 January 2012 00:00 EST.
Voting closes: 18 January 2012 00:00 EST. [1]
Results will be announced at the Linux Australia AGM at linux.conf.au
[1] Should the AGM - due to room availability - be scheduled prior to the election closing date, the closing date may be brought forward. If this happens, you will be notified via this mailing list prior to voting opening.
=== Linux Australia Annual General Meeting ===
The Linux Australia Annual General Meeting will be held at linux.conf.au in Ballarat.
Position reports for the President, Treasurer and Secretary, as well as the results for the 2012 Council Election will be presented at the Annual General meeting, with members having the ability to pose questions to the council.
The exact date, time and location of the AGM will be announced soon. A detailed agenda will be made available closer to the actual AGM.

As you have all undoubtedly already registered for linux.conf.au, you will be excited to know there is only a little over a month to go before it all comes together under the stars in Ballarat. Whilst the main conference program is set in stone, some mini-confs are still looking for speakers. Please get in touch with a mini-conf organiser if you would like to speak at one.
