[TasLUG] Ubuntu 2024 upgrade

Help!!!

I’ve just downloaded and installed the latestUbuntu upgrade, and when I did as instructed and restarted my computer I was presented with a command line interface prompt for user (which I remembered) and password (also remembered that one). So now having installed the upgrade I”m back to a 1980’s style command line operating system, and I seem to have lost my beautiful 2020’s desktop. Does anybody have any ideas abput what to do now? Fortunately I also have a Apple laptop which is working fine, and has connected up to all my mail accounts. This has to be the worst upgrade I’ve ever experienced, and I started in IT in 1978!
