Cannot remember the exact year but I do remember some of the people who use to be there like Leah Duncan and Cheeseness. Anyway at the time I use to dabble in Linux and use to purchase disks from the US and also when it was opensource freedom day in Tassie where there was a nice selection of disks to choose from. I currently use WIN10 as the Linux disks I have are too old to use now. I downloaded Debian 11.2.0 i386 and even managed to iso burn to a CD. When I try to use it in a PC nothing happens. I chose Debian because it doesn't need much RAM and is available for a 32bit PC. For me I only use thunderbird and Firefox in the immediate so that suits me fine. Anyone know where I went wrong? I use my phone as a modem for my PC. Cheers Peter -- Peter Barnes E:syracktas at gmail.com M:0412-883-976 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Some computers aren't set up to boot from a CD by default - often there's a shortcut key that can be pressed while the computer is still powering on that displays a boot menu or configration screen where boot order can be set. Could that be the hurdle? If you put the CD in the drive while in Windows, do the files show correctly? Sometimes it's easy to accidentally copy the ISO file itself to a CD instead of writing the ISO file's contents. I booted the install from a USB stick. Using the Mate desktop everything worked as far as I could tell.? It's sllooow and Firefox trips over it's feet and takes time to recover on those Javascript or whatever loaded supermarket catalogue pages. It's a Pentium M with 1.5 Gig RAM.
