I'll be putting out some signage but head in that general direction. This month we have a new TasLUG member Leigh Finch speaking about Wireshark. Since you can dive pretty deep into wireshark and network analysis I'm hoping this could be the first of a couple of talks about troubleshooting network and application performance. There is also be some time for a lightning talk or two if you have something you want to discuss or demo. We'll get in some Pizza from Pizzarazzi and there will be tea and coffee available but you can also bring along a refreshment. I see sometimes Mr Burger parks just down the street opposite the sports center. When: Open at 6pm for 6:30pm start/pizza order Thursday 16th February 2017 Where: Kickstart Arts - Hobart Makers Inc space, St Johns Avennue Newtown Agenda: - 6pm arrive and chat - 6.30pm - We'll put in a Pizza order, lightning talks and demos. - 7pm - Talk - Introduction to Wireshark and troubleshooting performance - 8pm finish up Enterprises often struggle with application performance, with slow applications blamed on anything that appears to be black box. Understanding how applications communicate and how the Kernel processes TCP is crucial to diagnosing performance problems. Wireshark is often described as the grandfather of protocol analysers, with hundreds of built in protocol dissectors and an built in LUA scripting capability. Wireshark is and will continues to be the surgical tool of choice when diagnosing performance problems. We will cover the following topics: * Sequence analysis * Network delay * Server Delay * Payload transfers * TCP streams * Exporting objects * SSL/TLS analysis/decryption How to get there: Kickstart Arts is in St Johns Avenue New Town.
