Hi LUGgers! Swim to the high ground at Hotel SOHO this month to talk about automating some of your development workflows with the BuildBot CI Server. It's a CI written in Python that's pretty easy to configure. You can add to the meeting agenda (eg tech support questions, cool links) on this pad: https://pad.taslug.org.au/p/june-buildbot When: Thursday 16th June from 6pm Where: Hotel SoHo, Davey St, Hobart Agenda: - 6pm - Arrive, grab a drink, order some food - 6.30pm - Tech support and cool stuff - 7pm - Automate with BuildBotCI - Scott Bragg If you have some ideas for talks in the next few months let me know! Come and speak about what you've been working on. -- Scott Bragg From henry.it.ltn at gmail.com Tue Jun 21 07:53:50 2016 From: henry.it.ltn at gmail.com (Henry) Date: Tue, 21 Jun 2016 07:53:50 +1000 Subject: [Taslug] Launceston June Meeting Message-ID: Hi Luggers, The end of the month is rapidly approaching, and that means it is time again for a meeting of the Launceston branch. As usual we will be meeting at the Royal Oak Hotel on Saturday 25th June. The meeting will start at 2:00PM while some of us will be gathering from about 1:00PM for a bite to eat and a chat before the meeting starts. This month James will be having a talk about using a raster based image creation program called Krita. You can find out more about the software at: https://krita.org/en/ See you there. Attitude ? ) From jsbragg at scriptforge.org Tue Jun 28 14:22:13 2016 From: jsbragg at scriptforge.org (Scott Bragg) Date: Tue, 28 Jun 2016 14:22:13 +1000 Subject: [Taslug] Hobart July ESP8266 Internet Of Things Hackfest! Message-ID: <0e7bfc9cba792174ef56a123a4b1b1a3@scriptforge.org> We interrupt our normal programming to bring you something different, somewhere else on a different day. THE SOMETHING DIFFERENT: is a hardware hackfest using NodeMCU; a very cheap ($12) open-source firmware development board featuring the venerable ESP8266 chip. These are an 80MHz microcontroller with built-in wifi and you can program the microcontroller in Lua, Python or Javascript. The plan for the event is to build up a device which can remote control some wireless power points (all parts included) so you can control power to your things. Because it's a microcontroller, you can code logic so that power is applied when a certain temperature is reached, or a certain light level is present etc. The options really are endless. On the night, from 6:30pm, several TasLUG regulars will give short presentations on assembling the hardware, flashing the chip and writing code for the ESP8266. Following on from that there will be an all in session where everybody assembles the kit of supplied parts into a working prototype. The cost is going to be about $50, payment being cash on the night. SOMEWHERE ELSE is Hobart Hackerspace, 2 St Johns Ave, New Town TAS 7008. THE SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT DAY is Wednesday 20th July (so it won't be our normal 3rd Thursday of the month, it's the 3rd Wednesday this time). RSVP: Please reply to this email to me (jsbragg at scriptforge.org) by 10th July so we can approximate numbers and to have pre-purchaced enough hardware to go around. -- -- Scott Bragg -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
