<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Hi members,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>My name is James. I am looking for tuition in php /
mysql. I have a basic level of experience with php/mysql but need to
understand a lot more.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV>i heard that there was a php certification exam, i think <BR>zend hold the
exam. if i could aim for a level that would let me take that exam i would
be very <BR>satisfied.</DIV>
<DIV><BR>i like the idea of understanding how a cms is written. i had
a poke around 'mambo' once to see how that <BR>works and it made me realise a
few things. it looks asthough getting a <BR>useful set of functions and keeping
them to re-use in different projects is <BR>a good idea. it also showed me how
many things can be done on one page of <BR>code based on events that the user
inputs or requests.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>i am aiming to understand how to build a cms or
atleast know how and understand how to manipulate and change it to suit clients
needs.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>the big picture for me is to understand a
intermediate to high level of php/mysql and then to also understand the same
levels in actionscript 2.0.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>the reason for my goal is so that i can eventually
(hopefully in the next 2 years) go to new york city and work there. when i am
sick of that place, i would have the education and experience to then move to
another city and find work easily.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>i had a look on monster.com and craigslist.com for usa jobs and it
seems one needs to know xml aswell as php/mysql.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>i will probably have a better stab at actionscripting after php as i think
it would complete a good range <BR>of skills. some of the mid range jobs ask for
a php programmer that can also <BR>manipulate phpmail, and lamp. i am not too
familiar with these. i think lamp <BR>is an acronym for linux, something mysql,
php ?? dunno. i am sure you can <BR>tell me.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>do you think my goals are realistic ?<BR><BR>i like the idea of
making practicing my ongoing tuition on drupal and i also like the idea
<BR>of learning xml along the way.<BR><BR>I have a host that allows me to
have 2 databases. if i need more, i can switch/buy another host easily
<BR>enough.<BR><BR>i have a pc without apache installed.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>i am willing to pay up to $50 per hour for training
if someone can spend some time with me and can understand my goals. i would like
to learn for up to 3 months or whatever it takes to get me to a satisfactor
level. i am easy going and listen well to instructions. it would be easy and fun
for you to teach me if you have time.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>that's all, thanks for readig all this. hope to
here from one or more of you soon,</FONT></DIV>
