'The Rusty Wrench team has decided not to call for nominations this year'

but that doesn't really come across well.

I think that LA is in a bit of a predicament - the Rusty Wrench is seen
as an LA award but we don't actually control it.

So a little update on this, Peter Lawler pinged me on IRC on this and 
we're discussing (well when he replies we will be)

I think in terms of a public statement we just let it slide.  For the 
award lets see what can be accomplished for '17 which at this stage 
might not be much.

The candidate he wants to put forward is a good one I think, but will 
respect the privacy of all concerned.

I think we just need to cop it this year and I suggest that next years council
move to handling the logistics of the award and just leave the adjuducation to
the past winners.

Pia had a good point in that not everyone in the RW cttee may be as closely
involved as needed for this (because life etc).

The idea of the committee putting together nominations from what they see
and hear "on the ground" and as part of the general process, then
submitting options to the RW cttee does mean that it's kept alive.

There may be years when no-one stands out and that's OK too.

Thanks for that!

I would prefer to have something a bit more formalised that we can
reference or point to either from the site or in our ongoing
communications. As an FYI opensource.com have also expressed interest in
running an article so I can see that it might be useful for LA to have
something out already when that is made available.

I also expect that our venue (UTS) will want to do some kind of release or
article for their website at some point too.

Is this something that the media team are able to draft up?
