Suppose it must be my turn...!

Leah Duncan, currently one of the LCA2009 coordinators and the acting
President of TasLUG, although as we have two "chapters", one up north
and one down south, the role is pretty much just as a central point of
contact.

We're obviously in the process of getting Linux.conf.au underway for
2009, so this is taking up a lot of our time this year; however Ben
Powell's COALUG idea came out of the discussions we'd been having about
LUG building in Tasmania. Currently we are looking at a three monthly
cycle of one major presentation with a non-Tasmanian based speaker, one
local presentation, and one social meet every quarter. There have been
many discussions about holding a second "SFD-style" event at
alternating ends of the state, around Easter each year, to maintain the
exposure of FOSS in the community; though due to our current workload,
that will be something for the next financial year.

Due to our members being spread across the state, we are looking at
either filming our presentations to make them available online, or
having "teleconference-style" meetings, dependent on securing a venue
with this capability.

Launceston are also looking at running a series of tutorials as the
year progresses, basically hands-on demos by our ex-Prez Gareth, so
this is likely to be our first attempt at getting the AV stuff
happening.

Cheers,

Leah Duncan.
