Hi everyone,

I just wanted to send a reminder to everyone that registration of .au direct domain names opens tomorrow 24 March 2022.

There are likely a number of LUGs and other groups that are interested in registering the .au version of their domain. This should be possible for you to do as of tomorrow, with existing domains coming under the Priority Allocation Process which gives you until September to apply for the direct domain. I encourage you to go through this process sooner than later however to make sure you have a higher chance of getting it.

If your LUG has its domain looked after by Linux Australia and you would like the .au direct domain to be registered, please reach out (we will also be talking to those groups individually). Separately, if you currently have a .org.au <http://org.au/> domain for your LUG or community group and will have an issue with renewing it given the requirement changes, please reach out to the Council and we will look at how we may be able to assist you with this process.

If you would like more information please have a read of the auDA information site - https://www.auda.org.au/au-domain-names/au-domain-names/au-direct <https://www.auda.org.au/au-domain-names/au-domain-names/au-direct>
This also has links to a webinar that was presented a couple of weeks ago with further information.

Kind regards,

Joel Addison
