[LCP]Modifying contents of an ELF file

Hi ,
     I want to read and modify the contents of object file (ELF format).I
would like to update the contents of the string table in particular.I have
been able to find routines in libelf library which allowed me to read the
contents of an elf file.However I dont know how to update the existing
string table.Could someone plz point out the way of going about it this.
