Uni of WA would already have a
Disability Support Service. Approaching them might be a good
thing. They would be best placed to advise on venue specific
issues in regard to LCA2014.

Also approaching specialist disability support groups such as
Vision Australia, Deaf Australia, Physical Disability Australia
etc should also be useful. This works 2 ways! 1. LA/LCA
organisers gets advice and assistance they need. 2. These
organisations gets more familiar with Linux and the Linux/Foss
Community. When LUV participated in the organisation of
disability events in Melbourne, in providing speakers and being
involved on the organising Committee, it was obvious that the
interest (and respect) that the Disability support group showed in
Linux was much improved as a result.

Specific people with expertise would be very helpful.
For example many don't realise wheel chair accessible is
more than ramps and elevators.
When I was briefly in a wheel chair I had problems with
inadequate turning room, fast closing elevator doors,
elevator door sensors too high and narrow doorways that
required the perfect angle and dragging myself by the door
frame to get through.

I would not be surprised if there was more to other
types of accessibility than meets the untrained eye.
