<div dir="ltr">Hi all,<div><br></div><div>I saw on twitter the Chris N is proposing that PyCon AU becomes a sponsor of Pycon (US). I'd like to +1 this, if I may.</div><div><br></div><div>PyCon AU has been going from strength to strength in recent years, but one of the pillars of that is the participation of overseas presenters. Overseas presenters contribute a huge amount to our knowledge pool and help to make the world a smaller place. I think that sponsoring PyCon US from Australia would help to increase the standing of PyCon AU in the eyes of potential attendees and visitors from overseas.</div>
<div><br></div><div>I'm not sure what the dollar values involved are, and I am just trying to comment on the value it would bring. I'm sure those who are responsible for the financial can make the appropriate decision given the costs.</div>
<div><br></div><div>In my view, if the Python community in Australia wants to grow (and I believe it does), it will need tight connections with overseas communities and to participate globally. I think there are a lot of benefits to the proposal. </div>
<div><br></div><div>I'm more than happy to discuss my views further, but I just wanted to share my support for Chris and for this proposal.</div><div><br></div><div>Thanks,</div><div>-Tennessee </div></div>
