You do not *have* to jump hoops to join ACS. Students can join by<br>simply being a student at uni or tafe in ICT/CS courses.</blockquote><div><br>I'm not a student at uni or tafe, although I've been both in the past. I don't have time to go back to either, and even if I did I have nothing I want to do there.
<br><br>That's a hoop. I haven't looked at the ACS in detail since before I went to uni, but my recollection is that as a student member, one is essentially paying for the right to be able to say that you're a member - you have no voting rights and no influence on the organisation as a whole.
