[Linux-aus] If you've been to or heard of the Ottawa Linux Symposium...

Hi,

A quick personal note to draw the Linux Australia community's attention
to a Indiegogo Campaign [1] that has been started by Andrew Hutton, the
organiser of the Ottawa Linux Symposium.

My own experiences of OLS were always very positive and it was the first
overseas Linux conference I was fortunate enough to attend. I learned a
bunch of things, met some great people and through these meetings formed
friendships and professional associations that continue to this day.

Sadly when the Kernel Summit moved away from OLS the event lost some of
its relevance for me and as the focus shifted to Linux Plumbers I tended
to go to the latter - so the last OLS I went to was 2008 IIRC.

Not a conference without some controversy - as Andrew himself
acknowledges there was a period were things weren't terribly well run
and perhaps attitudes were not ideal, but it's positive influence on
Linux over the years far outweighs these quibbles.

Jon "maddog" Hall writes about his experiences at OLS here [2] - a
worthwhile perspective.

If you've been to an OLS or heard of it, or would like to help out a
member of the broader FOSS community please take a moment to read
through the links below.

Thanks for your consideration :)

Cheers,
Hugh
