Innovative Internet projects awarded grants
Wednesday 10 December 2014
The auDA Foundation Board is pleased to announce that 14 projects will be supported in the 2014 funding round. This year the Foundation awarded grants totalling $324,465, including two PhD scholarships.
One of the funded projects is the University of Newcastle's Best Footprint Forward pilot. The research project aims to investigate child, parent/carer and teacher awareness about 'digital footprints' and strategies to manage these. The results, in this currently under-researched area, will generate a robust evidence base for the development of positive digital footprint resources to educate and empower Australian families.
Other grant recipients include:
* Cerebral Palsy Alliance's initiative to use eye gaze technology for children with Cerebral Palsy
* PhD research to develop an online tool to design a personal 'Sustainable Impact Budget'
* The University of Southern Queensland's research project to address school-based digital literacies with two Indigenous communities in Cape York.
auDA Foundation Director Chris Disspain remarked on the high quality of this year's applications and the unprecedented number received. "The Foundation Directors are particularly encouraged to see an increase in applications from tertiary and research institutions and a wide range of project target areas covering sustainability, cyber-safety and digital literacy."
