Debate to retain a free, open and interoperable Internet is what the Australian Internet Forum (auIGF) exists to facilitate. Inviting 'ambassadors' to assist in the co-ordination of the auIGF is how the wider Internet using community can take an active role of engagement.

.au Domain Administration Ltd (auDA), are currently seeking up to six "ambassadors" to assist in the co-ordination of the 2015 auIGF. The forum is the one event a year where individuals, community groups, industry leaders, government representatives, academics, students, media - all Internet users - gather to discuss Internet-related issues in Australia.

We want the Australian community's input in identifying issues that matter to them and translating these themes into discussions that will engage and inform industry and political leaders.

Each year we draw up a suggested list of current topics we think are important to cover in the auIGF's plenary sessions.

In 2013 & 2014, our ambassadors covered topics including online child protection and empowerment, digital equality, health and the Internet, privacy and digital intellectual property. This year's main theme is 'How the Internet is transforming Australian society' and topics that we are considering include, but aren't limited to:

  * 'Gender and the Internet (opportunities, empowerment, accountability and obstacles)',
  * 'Internet and indigenous communities' (the inclusivity and engagement divide),
  * 'Internet, innovation and the third sector' and
  * 'Internet and the law' (data retention and national security legislation).

Ambassadors will be exclusively responsible for the coordination of one element of the auIGF's program. Under the supervision of auDA staff, ambassadors will develop an auIGF workshop or panel, inviting and confirming speakers, and developing a brief report on the outcomes and discussion topics of the session.

Although this will be an unpaid role, auDA will provide funding to cover the domestic travel and accommodation of ambassadors.

To nominate as an ambassador, interested parties should send a brief (no more than 1000 words) application to auigf at auda.org.au<mailto:auigf at auda.org.au> before Thursday 5 February, 2015. Please visit www.igf.org.au/about-igf<http://www.igf.org.au/about-igf> for details of specific application requirements or contact us for more information.
