[Linux-aus] An aspirational name change - driven by an organisational service catalogue

Hi everyone,
First of all I'd like to acknowledge the efforts of John and Council in
opening up this issue for discussion. A lot of passionate, and generally
well reasoned debate has ensued, which not only serves as a catalyst to
examine LA's current reason for existence, but to also explore what the
organisation, and its members, *aspire* to have it do in the future.
Along with some other commentators, my own view is that we need to
better establish what LA currently does, and what we want the
organisation to do in the future before settling on a new name or
brand(s). Before specifically going looking, I wasn't aware of some of
the activities in which LA was involved, nor the extent of its
sponsorship activities.
So, to try and visualise what LA does, and some of the things it could
possibly do in the future, a page on the Wiki has been started which
essentially lists LA's activities as a menu, or service catalogue.
http://wiki.linux.org.au/Service_Catalogue
By working through the activities and services LA provides, and may wish
to provide in the future, it will likely influence the naming/branding
of the organisation going forward.
Kind regards,
Kathy
