When I started getting gTLD's, it cost $20 per year for a gTLD, and $125
for two years, for a ccTLD in the .au domain, as melbourneIT had a
monopoly on the .au domain.
auDA, from my experience, is concerned only with its own interests, and
wholeheartedly supports domain name piracy and general corruption.
If you believe that you can influence any decision of the auDA, then
good luck to you, but my experience is that, like members of
parliaments, they regard themselves as being exempt from any laws, and
not accountable to anyone.
