Dear Committee of Linux Australia,
First of all a big congratulations on LCA 2009 in Hobart, and our best
wishes for the planning of LCA in Wellington for January.
You are no doubt aware of the BarCamp concept, and that a number of
BarCamp-style events have been run in Victoria in recent years. The next
BarCampMelbourne event will occur on 12th-13th September at Urban Camp,
Royal Park, Melbourne.

We believe we have a strong track record in producing events for the
technical community that are cost effective, generate useful discussion,
and promote collaboration and networking.
The venue we have chosen this year, Urban Camp, is more costly than
previous years, where venues have been donated or provided by sponsors
(viz. Thoughtworks in 2008 and Welshmans Reef Vineyard in March 2009).

Urban Camp is centrally located, and provides several appropriate spaces
for technical collaboration, discussions and networking.
It is on this basis that we respectfully seek Linux Australia's financial
support in the amount of $1000 to assist with the costs of the venue,
catering and internet access for the event.
As a sponsor, we're able to offer you the following opportunities for
exposure;
* Logo on website and associated correspondence such as certificates
of appreciation
* Ability to provide material or posters etc for display at venue *
Verbal recognition during the event
(as shown on our sponsors page at:
http://barcampmelbourne.org/sponsor-barcampmelbourne2009/)
To demonstrate that we have a competent organising team focused on
continual improvement, please find attached our post event report from
StixCampNewstead, which had the same organising team as this year's
BarCampMelbourne.

the sake of the list)
Yours sincerely,
Kathy Reid on behalf of
The BarCampMelbourne Organising Team
