[Linux-aus] IE Patch

I know this is a bit of a long shot but I have a second laptop running XP Pro and about 36 hours ago I plugged it in for the first time in a while and downloaded the new IE patch that's supposed to prevent a security glitch. Within 24 hours my hard disc crashed. I wouldn't put anything past Microsoft and just wondered if it was bad luck or sinister? I'm back on my regular ubuntu laptop again.
