Hi all,
Jeff and I received this interesting offer for a partnership between a
willing representative of our community and BuilderAu. Basically they are
looking for someone interested in helping contribute FOSS saavy content to
their forums and in return get both recognition of our community and some
free goodies and events for the enthusiastic individual.
If anyone is interested in this, please contact me or the LA committee on
committee @ linux.org.au.
Cheers,
Pia

Hi Pia, Jeff,
It has been a while since we have talked but I wanted to highlight a program
which I am putting together for the Builder AU (www.builderau.com.au
<http://www.builderau.com.au/> ) website which may be of interest to you or
a Linux Australia member.
In May this year Builder AU launched its forums area
(http://www.builderau.com.au/forum/?mode=viewforum
<http://www.builderau.com.au/forum/?mode=viewforum&f=10000146> &f=10000146)
which has been steadily growing in postings up to now. We have noticed that
the majority of the postings are questions centred on coding questions for
particular platforms. In some cases we or another Builder member can answer
the questions, but other times we find we cannot. As you know, no one person
can be a master of all development platforms at one time.
Linked to providing the best service possible for our community I am looking
to inviting a small key group of 5 specialists in particular platform fields
to assist our readership when needed, plus contribute to the discussions on
Builder AU forums as a representative of their particular platform or
organisation. Examples of participation can be of benefit to your
organisation also - such as spot polls for research purposes, feedback on
platform related current events, highlighting when Linux Australia meetings
are on and opening invitations to builder members to participate/attend
conferences and functions etc.
I am interested in discussing a partnership with you with the objective
offering Linux Australia one of these positions working with a
representative from Linux Australia to provide this assistance and
leadership to the Builder AU readership in return for a higher status as a
forum community leader representative on Builder AU, plus other additional
benefits.
Below is a breakdown of what would be involved in the partnership:
Responsibilities and requirements of forum community leader:
1. Answering of Builder AU reader questions posted on Builder AU forums
where possible.
2. Serve in a leadership/mentoring role within Builder AU forums.
3. Postings: A minimum of 10 original threads per month to be made to
Builder AU forums.
In return for forum community leadership, you will be offered incentives and
an partner status within Builder AU and CNET Networks Australia.
* Promotion of Linux Australia via co-branded adverts on running on
Builder AU highlighting forums and noting user group as a source of advice
for members.
* This partner status will allow you to be notified of and have option
to receive incentives such as:
1. Invitations and access to select Builder AU and CNET Networks
Australia social functions
2. Free passes to select industry, events, conferences and training
days.
3. Movie tickets,
4. Discounts for events
5. DVD's
6. IT Books.
Please feel free to contact me in relation to this when you have a free
moment.
Thank you.
