Freedom Air (an Air NZ subsidiary, AIUI) lists $99 each way flights
Sydney<->Dunedin direct.

It looks like they do direct flights to Dunedin from most AU state
capitals, but unfortunately not Perth. Maybe a Virgin Perth->Sydney,
Freedom Air Sydney->Dunedin combo would work out cheaply.
