Actually, Janet is right, most of the interesting stuff LA does is being
done by sub-cttes and the sub-ctte model is supposed to mean that the org is
ever scalable and reflective of what the community is interested in and what
needs to be done without burning out a small number of people (aka the main
ctte). Jon and I set out the main ctte responsibilities recently at
http://wiki.linux.org.au/Ctte/CtteResponsibilities and as you can see, it is
limited in order to be achievable. The sub-cttes
http://www.linux.org.au/projects/sub-cttes/ have a policy and can have their
power revoked if they do the wrong thing by the community or LA. Easy :)

I think yearly elections, but with an expectation of named seats to take on
more than one year is a good idea, so we continue to have new blood, and
between the community expectation and the sub-cttes, there are enough checks
and balances to ensure continuity of the organisation.
