Subject: Network card problems
Date: Thu, 17 Jun 2004 22:00:17 -0400
Hi, I am hoping somebody can help with this problem.
Have installed a netcard after installing Debian 3.3 and cannot get the
system to use it.
Info centre-PCI lists the correct card,
info centre network interface lists 127.0.0.1,
netcard config returns "no supported network card",
insmod eepro (name of card driver) returns
/lib/modules/2.4.24-xfs/kernel/drivers/net/eepro.o: init_
module: device or resource busy,
modinfo eepro lists the above filename
dmesg doesn't mention eth0,
cannot ping my firewall.
The card works OK with a fresh install of Debian,a Knoppix cd, or windows.
Have Googled for an answer but nothing seems to work.
I think the answer may be very simple, but I am new to this and I am out
of options.
Thanks
Pete
