I agree that of the two, this is the best option.

I think the suggestion that lack of geographic spread implies under
representation for other areas is unfair until it has been proven to be
true - give the committee a chance to demonstrate their commitment to
true national advocacy.

If there are local issues they need to be made aware of because they
don't live there, then that is true on some scale regardless of what
state they live in - people in WA outside Perth might feel the same way
about a representative from the city.

Providing a communication channel between LUGS, who are (or should be)
aware of local issues seems to be the important thing to me, and the
fact that LA has already started a lug mailing list for exactly that
reason makes me happy.

I do believe a sub-committee of regional delegates could be good in the
sense that it would provide a specific point of contact for people who
wish to discuss a local issue. On the other hand, I don't think anyone
should feel they can't raise any issue to anyone on the committee and
have it taken seriously...

In short, I don't think the fact that none of the committee comes from
Tasmania implies that they're not interested in hearing about issues
from people who DO live there, and that we shouldn't start saying the
committee aren't interested unless they show that they aren't.

I'd love to hear an official response from the LA committee, as soon as
they've had a chance to discuss it.
