You're replying to spam on the public mailing list, which is completely
unnecessary. You're making it seem worse by commenting, as Busby once did,
when spam comes in. I would happily classify your smart-arse response as a
complaint, though it's the act of replying and multiplying the problem that
is most frustrating [1].

Meanwhile, I'm not even seeing the spam because I'm doing something about it
locally, and have offered to help with cleaning it up at the server level a
number of times.

If you have a problem with the spam, get off the list. Please just refrain
from acting like a dickhead in front of the rest of us just because you feel
the need to be a smart arse instead of doing something productive about it.

Don't reply to spam on any mailing list, for whatever reason.

[1] Yes, I realise the feedback loop this causes. I would hope, however,
that this gets the message across that replying to spam is not even remotely
productive.
