Nexion Data Systems is a leader in custom two-way radio and communications  
solutions. Based on the South side of Brisbane, Nexion's small, but dedicated  
team of engineers develops electronic products from conception through to  
delivery in a reliable, flexible and customer oriented fashion.

With a number of exciting projects planned this year, we are looking for a  
degree qualified software engineer with embedded Linux experience to join the  
team.

Key Responsibilities:

-    Develop, maintain and support an embedded Linux platform for use across  
varying products into the future
-    Contribute to the high-level design of product architecture. You should  
be creative, and be able to think outside the box.
-    Work closely within a team of engineers and technicians from a range of  
disciplines including software, hardware, radio and industrial design to  
develop new products and extend existing ones
-    Self-document all work to a high standard. You must be able to work  
independently and take ownership of your projects.
-    Learn about Nexion's existing products and the commercial two-way radio  
marketplace we are operating in.
-    Become part of the R&D team supporting existing products and projects
-    Interface with customers on a technical level when required

Required Skills:

-    Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer  
Science or similar
-    Embedded Linux development skills including kernel configuration, build  
and deployment methodologies
-    Hardware level understanding of kernel drivers and driver development
-    Linux ecosystem experience including GPL requirements and kernel patch  
management
-    Embedded firmware development experience (bare metal, non-os)
-    Experience with a source control tool
-    Excellent written and verbal communication in both a technical and  
non-technical manner
-    Excellent teamwork and problem-solving skills. Must be able to  
contribute meaningfully to technical and planning discussions.
-    Excellent time management skills. Most of the time you will work  
independently with periodic reporting to a more senior engineer or  
management.

Highly Desirable Skills:

-    2-5 years' experience working with embedded Linux platforms
-    Experience with the Yocto build environment for embedded Linux
-    Experience in the areas of audio and networking within an embedded Linux  
environment
-    Experience or knowledge of the two-way radio industry
-    Experience with git and bitbucket source control systems
-    Experience or knowledge of embedded Linux appliance development
-    An eye for detail and a desire to deliver to the customers' needs.
