You’ll be part of the Network Operation Centre to ensure the maximum
possible service availability and performance for customers and internal
supporting network. Sitting within the NOC, team is responsible for managing
and maintaining the network providing customer services. We are looking to
recruit a skilled programmer, ideally with sound commercial experience
working as a NOC Engineer with ISP background, it's also important that you
have the aptitude and demonstrable skills needed to fulfill this role.
You will interact frequently with Technical Support, Managed Support, Service
Provisioning and Sales teams so it's important that we are able to
communicate ideas and information to people from a non-technical background.
Importantly, within your role you must develop a solid understanding of our
products and processes, and must be keen to learn, able to use your
experience and initiative to tackle a broad range of problems and contribute
to the growing success of the business.
Once you've settled into the role, you may be asked to provide support
covering both planned and unplanned out of hours work as required.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, Deployment and maintenance of network topology.
• Development and management of application services across platforms.
• Ensure stable and reliable ISP network services (e.g. access products,
service networks and core network).
• Day-to-day network performance monitoring.
• Network troubleshooting and fault analysis.
• Participate in out of hours support.
Candidate Profile
• Proven Linux/UNIX programming skills (CentOS, BSD), experience with open
source software OpenNMS, Freeradius, Pfsense. Advanced scripting skills.
• Sound Experience working on network equipment in an ISP environment.
• In-depth understanding of the following technologies: IP Protocols (ICMP,
UDP, TCP); IP filtering and firewalling; Routing Protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS);
Quality of Service; Ethernet (STP, RSTP, 802.1q VLANs, QinQ).
• Experience in open source technology.
• Understanding of bandwidth management, Qos and traffic prioritisation.
• Familiar with Cisco ASR and ISG platform
