The Bureau is looking for a software release manager to join the numerical
modelling team, with a particular focus on developing, building and
implementing improved
numerical modelling software. You will be required to assist with gathering
and understanding stakeholder requirements, assessing project progress,
working closely with staff to ensure systems are built to required standards
within required time-frames, and to contribute to project reporting.
You will assist with the development of release plans and be involved with
communication. This position is also responsible for managing staff in the
testing and quality assurance area. This is a great opportunity to work on
systems of national importance for the public good, as well as to be a part
of a highly talented software development team.
To be successful you will have:
- Demonstrated capability liaising with technical stakeholders to identify
requirements
- Ability to manage a small team performing quality assurance functions
- Experience with reporting frameworks and agile software methodologies
- Familiar with software engineering processes and life-cycles
- Initiative, judgement, perseverance and an ability to work respectfully in
a team environment and to liaise effectively with research and operations
staff.
- Knowledge of statistics, data science, science or meteorology would be an
advantage.
