The Team & Role

This role sits within our Reliability Engineering team, which is accountable  
for managing; troubleshooting and supporting Optiver’s high availability  
trading systems from end to end as well as supporting our internal trading  
team.

As an SRE you’ll be expected to:
• Optimise and configure highly-available, high-performance trading systems  
and applications.
• Be a key point of contact and take ownership of any technical challenges  
presented by our trading systems.
• Investigate incidences and provide an escalation route to resolve any  
issues that arise from our trading systems, networks or software.
• Work in a fast paced, high pressure environment where every decision  
matters.
• Liaise directly with key stakeholders including developers,  
infrastructure team and traders to provide excellence service across the  
range of Optiver’s Trading systems.
• Manage software releases to ensure effective time- to-market and smooth  
rollouts.
• Provide technical troubleshooting and detailed analysis of critical  
issues.
• Ensure optimal application performance in order to enhance trading  
results.
• Design and implement creative solutions in a complex trading environment.

What do we look for in a System Reliability Engineer?
• Relevant experience working in System Administration, Development, IT  
Operations / DevOps/ Release management or any technical role that requires  
complex troubleshooting, incident management and production support
• A solid understanding of Linux / UNIX
• Strong scripting skills; we love to automate!
• You are excellent at troubleshooting, root cause analysis and generally  
love to solve technical problems
• An understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols
• A team player
• Must have strong communication skills both written and verbal and be able  
to articulate technical and non-technical concepts
• Must be passionate about technology and be committed to continuously  
improving
