Who you are
You’re a positive-minded senior engineer with a passion for IT
infrastructure. You know how things work and how everything needs to fit
together. You love to improve and optimise systems and you’re always on the
lookout for better ways to do this. You’re highly technical, easily manage
projects end-to-end and although you’re detailed and analytical, you enjoy
working in a team and building relationships with your colleagues and
stakeholders.
What you’ll do
Working on the latest and greatest in trading system technologies, you’ll
get to work closely with all teams across the business from Trading to
Development to ensure that our systems and servers are working at their
optimum. You know what questions to ask and you know how to talk tech to
non-techies. Using your knowledge and expertise, you’ll be advising the
business on ways to improve and optimise our platform and trading environment
as well as constantly learning and researching new technologies.
The ideal candidate will be happy to share their knowledge with the team as
well as learn from them, and is looking for a fast-paced, open environment
where change management and best practices are important and necessary.
Your skills
• 6+ years’ work experience in Linux/UNIX systems administration working
in medium to large server deployments and configuration management
• Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to work out what the root
cause of a problem is and fix it for good
• A keen interest in working closely with the business and our internal
stakeholders
• Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative team
• Excellent communication skills - written, verbal and interpersonal
• Experience providing expert support, analysis and research into
exceptionally complex problems.
• Expert scripting capabilities using Python, Shell or Ruby
• Assisting with analysis, evaluation and preparation of recommendations
for system improvements, optimisation, development, and/or maintenance
efforts
• Willingness to work in a low-latency infrastructure environment
• A good understanding of networking principles and protocols
