We currently have a position vacant for a Senior Systems Administrator.

Job Description
In this role you will be responsible for the management of specific IT  
facilities as well as being involved in hands on administration and support.  
Project management responsibilities include planning, budgeting, monitoring  
and reporting. System administration responsibilities include design,  
purchasing, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting and user support. This  
role currently includes some responsibility for out of hours support of  
specific systems. The position reports to the IT Manager.

This role's primary focus is on;
Office IT (Windows desktops & laptops, printers etc),
Storage (HSM, backups, tape rotations),
Linux/Windows server administration (including virtualisation),
and telecommunications (mobile voice and data services and handsets).

The position is one of a team of three who collaborate and actively share  
responsibilities across all aspects of the company's IT infrastructure which  
also includes support of shared Linux environments, high performance  
computing (HPC), network administration, intranet and extranet services, data  
communications and a team of in-house developers.

You will be expected to have proven skills in administering the following;
GNU/Linux,
Samba, NFS,
LDAP,
Windows XP and Office 2003,
deployment of Windows SOE using WPKG, AD or similar,
system and data backup regimes including rotation of off site media,
server room infrastructure,
Windows Server 2003/8 and SQL Server 2003/8,
Outlook 2007 & Exchange 2007

other systems currently in use at RPS MetOcean include;
KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine),
SGI: XVM/CXFS/DMF
Atempo Time Navigator (backup software),
Sun Grid Engine,
Apache, Tomcat & PostgreSQL,
Commence (CRM, distributed DBMS),
Deltek Vision (Financial application),
and a planned deployment of Cisco switches, VOIP handsets and Call Manager.

Experience with any of these will be highly regarded.

Candidates for this position must exhibit extensive technical knowledge and a  
professional approach to work. General skills should include communication,  
planning, documentation and troubleshooting.
