I'll start by saying that I'm not from HR and this will be a somewhat
informal announcement.

BitDefender is a multinational security software company based
partially in the US and in Romania. Among other things we have several
solutions for Linux/UNIX based systems and servers.

What we're looking for:
One or two freelancers to work on commission and help us deploy our
solutions to customers in Australia. In a nutshell, the core
responsibilities will be:

* Deploys the solution at the customer site. Does some basic training
with their IT staff.
* Tier 2-3 support. The support calls will be taken by our customer
care and escalated to our internal techs. However, on occasion we will
need you to go on site and solve issues should they arise. Our
software runs on business critical services (mail and file servers or
internet gateways) and in the interest of reducing downtime to the
minimum it's best if someone just goes on site and solves the problem.
* Keep in touch with our HQ and provide feedback, reports, suggestions

You will have to study and learn our solutions (they're pretty
straightforward so this won't be an issue for anyone with just a
little server admin experience)

The ideal candidate:
* Neat. Social. Communicative. This is a technical salesman job
(welcome to the dark side) so yes: you will need to act like a sales
person that's actually knowledgeable about what's being sold
* Experience with as many UNIX and Linux flavors. Our solutions are
designed and have packages to support all the major Linux distros as
long as they're not (way) too old. Same goes for FreeBSD and probably
Solaris. You're not expected to know everything inside out. You are
expected to quickly realize what's going wrong on that guy's custom
made Slackware or that other guy's CentOS who installed packages with
--force.
* Knowledge with as many e-mail services as possible. Qmail, Postfix,
Sendmail. The works. We even have a dedicated agent that integrates
with CommuniGate Pro. You will need to know how to work with that
* Knowledge of network protocols.

What we offer:
* Commission from each contract we close and you're involved in. We're
talking about server solutions so usually there's a substantial amount
of money for each sale. You're going to get a small percentage of that
sum for a few hours of work.
* Bonus if the customer sends us a testimonial of your
professionalism :)
* A very skilled team of techs to help you out
* Fees for each intervention you have to make on-site afterwards

If you're interested or need more detials, send an e-mail to abalan at
bitdefender dot com telling us why you think you could qualify for the
job. It doesn't have to be a CV (though CV's will help tell us about
you and your experience) but it should be descriptive.
Good Luck!
