Makena Technologies is an exciting new entertainment and communications company focused on online interaction. We are known for our groundbreaking consumer service called &quot;There&quot; (<a href="http://www.there.com/">www.there.com</a>) and our latest offering launched in partnership with MTV called &quot;Virtual Laguna Beach&quot; (vlb.mtv.com). Both of these consumer services are destinations where members can meet people, hang out with friends, play games, explore, have fun and even help build their own world - all in a spectacular 3D graphical environment.<p>Responsibilities:</p><p>    * Support 24x7 service with oncall requirements on a rotation basis.<br />    * Handle escalations from Service Operations Tier1.<br />    * Identify and resolve complex service problems, often working with member support, engineering, and other operations team members.<br />    * Implement monitoring enhancements.<br />    * Implement automation enhancements. </p><p>Required Skills:</p><p>    * Minimum of 3 Yrs of experience with Linux or UNIX environments.<br />    * Experience managing a 24x7 service.<br />    * Intermediate knowledge of computer networking (IP protocols, architecture principles).<br />    * Intermediate level experience with Apache HTTPd server, SMTP and mail servers, DNS, and RDBMS.<br />    * Experience in problem solving related to availability, performance, and functionality.<br />    * Ability to solve problems quickly and completely, as well as preventing further occurrences.<br />    * Ability to maintain and enhance existing automation and monitoring tools, as well as suggest and implement new ones.<br />    * A great enthusiasm to make things work.<br />    * Strong interpersonal and communication skills.<br />    * Basic scripting ability, preferably in perl or python, and the shell of your choice.<br />    * Ability to create simple tools and reports using scripting languages, sql, and web interfaces.<br />    * Ability to mentor more junior team members.<br />    * Strong analytical problem solving skills.<br />    * High attention to detail.<br />    * High flexibility and ability to work in fast-changing environment.<br />    * Strong customer focus.<br />    * SAGE (<a href="http://sage.org/field/jobs-descriptions.html">http://sage.org/field/jobs-descriptions.html</a>) level 3</p><p>Service Operations Tier 2 is a full-time position and includes a competitive salary with benefits that include medical, dental, vision coverage and more.
