Applications Support - Middlew, Full Time

Our fast-growing telco has a newly created opportunity to join our small
Unix/Linux Applications Team. This position is exposed to a diverse
range of back-end technologies in a complex, large-scale and fast moving
environment. There are significant opportunities for diversifying your
skills and/or progressing to development.

Responsibilities:
- Operational support of our Unix/Linux based applications including
billing, CRM and automated provisioning.
- Technical support of the Production/UAT and Development environments
including installation, configuration and patching.
- Release management, working closely with our development team.
- Developing 'glue' scripts to tie our applications together, automate
recovery and other tasks.
- Troubleshooting and problem solving of application faults, defects,
issues, and critical enhancements.
- Proactive infrastructure and application monitoring using BMC Patrol.

Skills Required:
- It's essential that you can demonstrate some development (in at least
two of the following - shell scripting, Perl, Java, SQL) skills and have
excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of either/both Sun Solaris or Redhat Enterprise Linux as
well as previous production support experience would be considered
favourably.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Familiarity with any of the following would be a distinct advantage -
BEA Weblogic, Apache, PostgreSQL / Slony, Freeside, BIND, Oracle -
PL/SQL, JBoss, Tomcat, Radiator, LDAP.
