Linux Support Specialist, Full Time

The Job

Full Time or Part Time Student (at least 10 hours per week at regular times)

Supporting Linux business systems with Windows clients.  Our business model is to build long term relationships with our clients and this usually means support, but computer systems don’t last for ever!  You will need to have the skills to be able to design & commission new IT systems (both hardware & software) working as the Linux tech lead within a team.  In addition, you will be required to tinker with some PHP and mySQL to support some internal systems and be able to integrate and utilise open source software when necessary.

* Linux Server Sys Admin & Server Build (RedHat, Gentoo)
* LDAP
* DNS
* Windows clients
* SAMBA
* mySQL
* PHP
* Networking skills

You will also need these:
* Passion & brains
* Integrity, trustworthiness & honesty
* Be a self starter & good team worker
* Able to deploy new IT systems, bed them in & work well with users so there are real business benefits
* Appreciate business realities in deploying & supporting IT Systems
* Not frightened of documentation
* Good communication skills, both written & verbal
* Friendly & helpful to users but know when to escalate issues to seek an efficient time and cost resolution
* Finish what is started
* Own car & current driver’s license
* Australian permanent residency
* Have an MCP or MCSE qualification or commit to gaining one within the first 6 months
