Anchor Systems is a leading Linux-based hosting provider in the Australian market, based in Sydney, providing a range of services from domain name registrations, shared hosting environments, managed servers, and co-location services.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Systems Administrator to join our team.

You will be working alongside other System Administratorrs on the Anchor server farm of 80+ machines, using popular open source and custom systems automation tools to deploy and maintain services and servers.

The position is full-time, at our Sydney CBD office.

Responsibilities of this role include:

    * Support for managed server customers via email and telephone. Configuration of system services including Apache, BIND, Postfix, PostgreSQL, and others as required for customer provisioning. Routine maintenance of shared and dedicated hosting server; applying security updates, scheduling outages, responding to monitoring systems, and system troubleshooting. Preparation and installation of servers into the data centre. Testing, troubleshooting and debugging of software in development and production environments. 

The ideal candidate will have a good phone manner and excellent communication skills, have had plenty of exposure to Linux and Free/Open Source software, and an obsessive-compulsive attention to detail. Problem solving skills are essential. Programming experience and understanding of computer theory is desirable.
