Linux and Open Source Engineer, Full Time

Pantek, a leading Linux and Open Source Technical Services provider, is growing and is in search of experienced Open Source Project Engineers who enjoy the challenges of working in mission-critical networking environments.

Responsibilities of this position include:

Provide triage level technical support to clients who are implemented Linux and open source based applications.

Provide system and network configurations for Linux and open source applications.

Provide periodic support to business clients outside "normal" business hours (we are very flexible with schedulgin), who are having business critical server outages.

Stay up to date with new technologies and learning and using them quickly.

This is a challenging position, requiring excellent problem solving skills and the ability to think quickly on your feet. A strong working knowledge of at least three of the following applications: Apache, BIND, iptables, MySQL, Nagios, Postfix, Qmail, Samba, and/or sendmail is required. 

The majority of work will be performed for clients remotely using the Internet and telephone communication. As such, excellent communications and telephone skills (etiquette, ability to speak clearly, ability to communciate effectively) are required. 

Additional skills required include excellent time tracking, planning, documentation, and ability to communicate and work closely with other team members on small to medium size projects. Experience with C, Perl, PHP, Java, or other programming languages is a plus. A bachelors degree is preferred but not required if sufficient experience exists.
